Disposable Vapes

Disposable vapes are the most popular product with adult vapor consumers. While it may seem redundant at times to compare various Miami Mints on dual coil, mod-sized disposables, the new Geek Bar Pulses merit a closer look.

As there is currently an inventory issue with both, note they were launched with special edition rather than mainstream flavors, you should also familiarize yourself with Vaping.com's disposable vapes collection. We carry all the best devices from the most trusted names, including quite a few outstanding Geek Bar Pulse alternatives.

Geek Bar Pulse 2 versus Geek Bar Pulse X 2

The junior model, the Geek Bar Pulse X, always had the specs to overshadow the original Pulse but was never able to match it in sales. Was it something tangible or intangible that made the original Pulse so beloved? It is time to deep-dive the second generation of these devices.

Geek Bar Pulse 2 Overview

The Geek Bar Pulse 2 really looks like a cool and upgraded Geek Bar Pulse 2. It is not all that much larger, the screen is fancier but has the same design elements. Apparently the light the encircled on the screen on the original Pulse was called a Binary Halo. Well this one is brighter. Everything is clean looking and upgraded. The initial run of flavors are Hubba Edition. These are basically the most popular flavors but reimagined as bubble gum with a big burst of flavor. The puff count and battery are bigger, which is key as the market has gotten a lot tougher since the Geek Bar Pulse launched.

Geek Bar Pulse X 2 50K Overview

The Geek Bar Pulse X followed hot on the heels of the Geek Bar Pulse. It was a lot more ostentatious and also had a lot more performance on tap. It had a lower resistance coil, bigger e-liquid capacity, and a screen that covered the side provided galaxy star themed lights in Pulse Mode. More germane, it had a better airflow control as well.

The Geek Bar Pulse X 2 launched with the energy-drink-inspired Bull Edition. Now it is time for a tale of the tape.

A reductionist approach to comparing these two devices provides a clear winner. Unless a vape being 10mm shorter is what you want, the Geek Bar Pulse X 2 50K is longer-lasting and has more features. But...what if you want a smaller device? What if you get bored of flavors long before you hit 50K puffs? What is Binary Halo Effects are not a huge priority. If the demand for the biggest vape possible isn't present, this becomes a much tighter race and Pulse 2 is the handier device.

User Experience: Geek Bar Pulse 2 versus Pulse X 2

In terms of flashiness, even the colorful Geek Bar Pulse 2 takes a back seat to its larger Pulse X siblings. But in the real world, the Geek Bar Pulse 2 is just right. It is smaller, the bite-friendly mouthpiece is perfect, and the display is an advanced yet whimsical take on the original. Frankly, the whole galaxy UX is a bit much for the author, as it seems a bit bright and wasteful. The Pulse X 2 does retain a superior airflow control that can be varied between modes.

Display Technology

Geek Bar has made display technology a defining feature of the Pulse family. The upgrade is especially noticeable on the Pulse 2. The original Pulse display was beginning to feel dated compared to the increasingly elaborate screens found on newer disposable vapes. The Pulse X was already quite a fancy pants design.

Geek Bar Pulse 2 Display Features

  • Dome Full Screen display
  • Binary Orbit lighting system
  • Mode indicators
  • Battery monitoring
  • Updated graphics package

Geek Bar Pulse X 2 Display Features

  • 3D Curved LED Display
  • Galaxy Cascade UI
  • Binary Halo effects
  • Stardot visual technology
  • Real-time battery monitoring
  • Real-time e-liquid monitoring

The Pulse X 2 unquestionably offers more displays and a more advanced display. The Pulse 2 closed the gap but it is just more. Is that actually what you want though? It does not impact the performance. The information is all the same.

The author greatly prefers the cleaner Pulse 2 presentation. The Pulse X 2 continues the visual style introduced by the original Pulse X, which can feel a little excessive compared to the more restrained Pulse 2 interface. Not that the Pulse 2 is restrained. It is all comparative. That being

Coil Performance and Vapor Production

Both devices feature upgraded dual mesh coil systems designed to improve flavor consistency and vapor production. There are a lot of numbers thrown around. In layman's terms, the Pulse X 2 50K has a lower resistance coil and fires at a higher-wattage. Hence, it generates more vapor. This is noticeable in Pulse mode for both. This is why it needs the bigger battery and e-liquid production, as firing an atomizer drains both.

But both of these devices are also packed with premium flavors and utilize a nicotine strength of 50mg. A 0.6ohm coil is going to be a bit excessive even for a lot of seasoned veterans.

The Geek Bar Pulse X 2 50K is so powerful that its estimated puff count in Pulse Mode matches the lower-capacity Geek Bar Pulse 2 operating at full power.

As far as the purity of the flavor, the Geek Bar Pulse 2 is top-tier. It is really splitting hairs to give one the edge. It comes down to flavor choices and inventory.

Geek Bar Pulse 2

Geek Bar Pulse 2 Coil Features

  • Improved heat distribution
  • Faster activation
  • Better e-liquid utilization
  • Increased vapor production
  • 25,000 Puff Count Regular Mode
  • 15,000 Puff Count Pulse Mode

Geek Bar Pulse X 2

Pulse X 2 Coil Features

  • 0.6Ω dual mesh coil
  • Parallel heating elements
  • Improved efficiency
  • Enhanced flavor consistency
  • Increased vapor output
  • 50,000 Puff Count Regular Mode
  • 15,000 Puff Count Pulse Mode

In practice, both devices deliver excellent flavor and vapor production. Personally, the author finds the Pulse X 2 to be a bit overpowered so its power advantage does not prove that useful.

Flavors: Geek Bar Pulse 2 versus Geek Bar Pulse X 2

The most interesting aspect of the the dueling Geek Bar Pulse launches might not be the hardware or how closely the successors resemble their successful predecessors. It is the flavor selection. Instead of simply releasing new devices with existing Geek Bar flavors, Geek Bar created two entirely new flavor families.

The result gives adult consumers a reason to try the newest hardware without simply buying the same flavors they already know.

Geek Bar Pulse 2 Hubba Edition

The Hubba Edition draws inspiration from classic chewing gum flavors. It is a more conservative choice than Bull Edition.

Available flavors:

  • Strawberry Watermelon Hubba
  • White Peach Hubba
  • Lemon Hubba
  • Blue Razz Hubba
  • Grape Hubba

These flavors are sweet, nostalgic, and playful without feeling one-dimensional. If you enjoy confection fruit flavors, Hubba Edition will probably appeal to you immediately. These are just souped up versions of classic disposable vape flavors.

Geek Bar Pulse X 2 Bull Edition

The Bull Edition takes inspiration from energy drinks.

Available flavors:

  • Watermelon Bull
  • Blue Razz Bull
  • Coco Berry Bull
  • Strawberry Bull
  • Peach Bull

Winner: This category is pretty subjective but the Geek Bar Pulse 2 flavors will have wider appeal.

Our Verdict

The Pulse 2 and Pulse X 2 are both very derivative of their predecessors in form factor but offer real upgrades. The Geek Bar Pulse 2 refines what made the original Pulse so successful. It is compact, practical, flavorful, and fairly punch in Pulse Mode.

The Geek Bar Pulse X 2 is a lot in Pulse Mode. It looks fancier than the fanciest vape mod and isn't much smaller. It offers more battery life, more puffs, a larger display, and a bigger overall experience.

If you only occasionally vape and stick in Regular Mode, the Geek Bar Pulse X 2 50K will last you for months (these samples might last years in the case of the author). They are good flavors but even a frequent vaper will find they last quite a while.

For most adult consumers, the Pulse 2 will once again become the volume seller. It has a lower price point and is quite long-lived in its own right. The author prefers the Geek Bar Pulse 2 but the Pulse X 2 is clearly the more powerful and capable device.
