Pros: Good flavors. A long-lasting vape which cranks out tons of chill at the higher settings. Screen is mercifully compact and tasteful compared to the Cosmos-themed and graphics generating disposable vapes.

Cons: Does not have a separate tank and coil, which would be necessary for actual flavor boosting. May just be another boosted vape in a nice package. Puff count seems optimistic, maybe its time to scrap puff counts and just show e-liquid volume, coil resistance and wattage. 

Flavor Boosting Technology

When the author hears claims of flavor boosting technology, the assumption is that a second source of e-liquid and a second coil that can be fired at will to infuse the vapor. This is how the Fasta Burrst 35000 works. There is a 7ml tank of Menthol or Fizz flavor. A button activates the coil in this tank. It cannot be fired unless you are drawing on the vape. Draw-activation for main tank. Press and hold for flavor if you want to tap into second tank. This is how the Fasta Burrst 35000 delivers flavor boosting performance. 

 

 

The Fasta Burrst's button releases menthol or fizz flavor only when depressed, this means you can pump it as you inhale providing an almost infinite variance in coolness.

How does the IC40000 compare? This device features four settings coolness. It also clearly does not contain a second coil, alternative airflow paths or s second tank.

It looks like a regular disposable vape and nothing on their website suggests there is any addition hardware hidden within.

Pillow Talk IC40000 Appearance

The Fasta Burrst 35000 has a dedicated button and a dedicated tank. It does not add much to the size but the modifications necessary to create flavor boosting technology are clearly visible.

Pillow Talk IC40000 looks like a regular and modern disposable vape. It is lean and not particularly large. Despite its announced 40,000 puff count, it really isn't any larger than the typical 15 to 25,000 puff devices. Nor does it contain any more e-liquid. For it to achieve this efficiency, it would have to be firing at a lower wattage with a higher resistance coil to generate less vapor. Yet the performance is not wispy or weak. 

A 20ml e-liquid capacity is not much more e-liquid than can be found in vape with much lower puff counts. Clearly, this puff count metric is close to useful.

The good news is that it proved to be a long-lasting disposable. The question is how much longer? Notably, none of these brands has agreed to put a puff counter on their LED display.

Touch to adjust ice. That is how the Ice Control IC40000 claims to provide the ultimate customization of your vaping experience. The touch pad does adjust the power. The question is how it adjusts ice with one coil and the answer is not being offered at this time. 

The Ice Control feature is navigated with a small button, located just above a very nicely arrayed display. The Pillow Talk appearance is refreshing. There are no images of celestial bodies, imaginative graphics, or rocket ships. Just a 3 panel screen that shows Ice Level, Battery Life and E-Liquid.

How Does Ice Control Control Ice?

Questions arise as to how much ice is being controlled. Unless the manufacturer is hiding features underneath the hood, there is no second coil and second tank pumping in flavor and providing real control. The IC4000 appears mechanically to be a bog-standard boosted vape.

Is "Touch to Adjust Ice" simply three different power modes? Is "Ice Control" increasing ice by increasing wattage?

During a week of use, it felt like adjusting ice levels was adjusting power and that some menthol was leaking into the zero ice settings. 

With no additional hardware, perhaps Pillow Talk took the simple expedient of filling the saturated polyfill in layers, with the most mentholated nic salt placed adjacent to the segments of the coil that get lit up in the Ultimate Ice setting.

Just because you can't adjust ice level like the Fasta Burrst does not mean this isn't a very nice disposable device. There is a much cooler mouthfeel when choosing Ice Unleashed versus Medium Ice Level. The No Ice Setting does feature less coolness than Low Ice. But there is still coolness leaking into the flavor when it should be zero ice.

Avoiding Burnt Hits on Disposable Vape

The questions regarding the products description as a flavor controlling vape is not a criticism but a question. Is the IC40000 really flavor boosting, power boosting or switching which half of the dual mesh coils are fired?

Menthol leaking into the No Ice setting is not necessarily detrimental.  Every modern nic salt disposable seems to have menthol in it. Conventional wisdom is that the cooling agents protect the coils from burnt hits. No small deal when the IC40000 Pillow talk holds 20ml of e-liquid and there is no way to swap the coil if it wears out or gets. 

This next tip applies to every boosted disposable vape. To get extended use, the best practice on is to switch between modes to evenly split the labor between the different areas of the dual mesh coil. If you stick in one mode, that portion of the coil will be used exclusively. These meshed coils are durable. No doubt the Neo Mesh is a good design. But it is asking a lot of one segment of a small coil to punch through layers of sticky e-liquids and scads of flavoring. 

Disposable vapes on average have a much higher percentage of flavoring than a bottled nic salt, which is why they taste so strong. These bold formulations are advantageous when attempting to attract the deadened tastebuds of combustible users at the gas station counter. 

But if you want to avoid crustier burnt hits near end, you probably want to use all the settings of this long-lasting vape to evenly distribute the wear and tear. 

Rich and Consistent Flavor

What cannot be denied is that the Pillow Talk Ice Control IC40000 kicks out rich and consistent flavor.

It may not provide the ultimate customization of a Fasta Burrst, but the cooling sensation increases as you up the Ice levels. It just works. The highest ice strength is almost overwhelmingly cold. Ideal for fans of menthol.

Pillow Talk IC40000 Screen

The LED screen displays on the Pillow Talk IC40000 are a cool design. The screen is bigger than a Lost Mary MT15000 turbo, although with no lower nicotine option, but modest compared to an UT Bar Pro or Geek Bar Pulse X.

I prefer modest displays and do not need a signal beacon or graphics that remind me of watching a VHS recording of Dr. Carl Sagan's 1970s PBS mini-series "Cosmos".

The touch control is responsive, although it does not lend itself to boosting and unboosting flavor mid-puff like the Fasta Burrst. Burrst Mode is an enjoyable and engaging user experience. A legible e-liquid, battery screen and ice are all stacked nicely below the button on the IC40000. But the Pillow Talk doesn't really compare to a true flavor enhancing experience with dual tanks and coils. 

 

 

Ignoring the Fasta's edge in the "fun to vape" category, the Pillow Talk Ice Control is a picture of simplicity and does a great job. The e-liquid battery screen area provides easy monitoring of both the battery levels and remaining e-liquids.

Unfortunately, with a 20ml e-liquid capacity there are only three bars on the display. This doesn't provide enough information when the final bar ostensibly represents 13,333.334 puffs.

The Ice Control display shows which of the ice settings you are currently using. You can adjust the ice dosage with a push of a small button. The remaining e-liquid in your Ice Control vape is shown on the third and bottom screen.

The smaller area presumably freed up space for the extra e-liquid capacity versus a Geek Bar or Rif Bar. There is no arguing that a 20ml e-liquid capacity would have seemed unbelievable back in the days of 1.8ml Puff Bars and 0.7ml Juul Pods.

Huge credit for not joining the LED arms race. A small eliquid, battery screen combo is a refreshing change of pace. Thumbs up!

The touch control button interface is nice and surely durable enough for a one-time use device, even one optimistically billed as kicking out 40,000 puffs. 

Airflow Control

With a hunch that the touch to adjust ice level setting is mostly a 4-level boost mode activating portions of the coil aligned with more mentholated blends, it is time to turn our attention to the adjustable airflow control.

It is a switch located on the base next to the Type-C USB port for the rechargeable battery. Much like a Geek Bar and many other disposable vape rivals, it is a tab with holes punched in it. But the adjustable airflow operates independent of the four ice settings, which means you can get a lot of flexible performance from the IC40000 vape.

The Lost Mary MO20000 Pro remains the ultimate disposable vape in terms of sheer horsepower, control, appearance, and user experience but the Pillow Talk is quite nice, if simple. The Lost Mary MO20000 holds 18ml of e-liquid and has fully adjustable wattage. It seems quite unlikely that run on its lower power setting the MO20000 is generating only half as many puffs. Anecdotally, without actually counting puffs, it seemed to be lasting a bit longer if anything during daily use. 

If you are at all like the author and do not need 50mg nicotine strength, the Lost Mary MT15000 is now available in 20mg strength. It joins the Flonq disposable vape collection as one of the few options for those who want the flavor, performance and convenience of a disposable vape but find them unnecessarily potent. 

Battery Life

The puff count did not seem as off the charts as advertised but the battery had solid longevity between charges. The battery levels shown seemed to roughly correspond with the remaining charge. No wireless charging yet but that upgrade seems inevitable at current rate of technological innovation.

The battery seemed to drain faster if you chose to adjust ice level settings up to Ice Unleashed. This lends further credence to the observation that the secret to more coolness is a coil pumping out a greater volume of mentholated vapor. The battery capacity of the IC40000 is 700mAh.

Rich and consistent flavor is delivered by this compact disposable device. The 20ml e-liquid capacity is impressive, even if the puff count seems unusually optimistic in a very optimistic world. The draw-activation and satisfaction are exactly what you expect in a 50mg strength disposable vape.

 

Pillow Talk Vape

In use, the Low Ice Level and Medium Ice Level seemed the best suited for most vapers. It might be witchcraft, since there definitely doesn't seem to be a hidden ice reservoir in this small disposable device, but Ice Unleashed really is quite intense. The draw is quick. The flavors are all standard disposable vape fare, which means they go great with ice as they would invariably be chilled no matter which disposable vape they appeared in.

As the IC40000 does not have an unusually bright screen, it cuts a discrete figure and battery longevity is solid.

Our Verdict

Whether the Pillow Talk Ice Control has the capabilities of modulating ice remains unclear. It certainly does not have a separate tank or coil like the Fasta Burrst 35000. This hardware is necessary for true flavor boosting and control. And the Fasta has a push button to add bursts of flavor as you puff. The puff count seems a bit optimistic as well. These critiques aside, this is a handsome and long-lasting vape with solid flavors and very nice display that does not have unnecessary graphics.
