What kind of battery does a vape use?
Although there are a variety of lithium batteries available today, there are only a few that are fit to power a vaping device. For vape batteries, these choices usually come down to ICR, IMR and Hybrid. In most cases, it is recommended to use a IMR or Hybrid battery, unless your specific device explicitly states to use an ICR vape battery.
There are many different sizes of batteries, but the majority of vape mods accept 18650 batteries. The 18650 battery is a size classification of Li-Ion batteries, measured at 18mm by 65mm. How long do vape batteries last
The charge on your vape battery, and the battery itself, won’t last forever. Eventually, you’ll need to replace your battery completely, and between that time, you’ll likely charge your battery hundreds of times.
In general, it takes between 3 and 4 hours to charge a dead vape battery; whether you are recharging them using a separate charger or charging them by plugging up the device through the Micro USB port. Charging your vape batteries through the device allows you to “pass-through vape” or continue to vape while your device is connected to the charger. External battery chargers however, allow you to charge multiple vape batteries at the same time, giving you access to backups that can be quickly switched out.
Rechargeable 18650 vape mod batteries can last for a very long time if they are taken care of. Over time though, your vaporizer battery will begin to degrade. How quickly this will happen depends on a variety of factors from how often you use your device to the wattage that you typically vape at. When your vape batteries are no longer holding a charge for a satisfactory amount of time, it likely will soon need to be replaced.
There are other times when your vape 18650 batteries should be replaced, like when they are physically damaged. Vape batteries aren’t indestructible and physical damage can cause a battery to lose capacity and can even create a dangerous vaping situation. Dents, dings and scratches should be taken seriously since they can change the internal properties of the battery. Furthermore, if the battery’s wrap is damaged, the battery should be immediately replaced.
