Also called e-liquid, e juice or vape fluid, vape juice refers to the liquid that we put in our vape to create the vapour itself. In general, juice is comprised of five ingredients - water, flavouring, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin and nicotine (excluding zero nicotine liquids).

  • Food-grade flavourings are used for many food-based applications, are safe to consume, and when combined correctly, can produce a wide variety of amazing flavors.

  • Propylene Glycol is a colourless and odourless liquid that is used in many food and medical applications. This ingredient helps to evenly distribute taste and flavour throughout the vape e-liquid.

  • Vegetable Glycol is a natural chemical that is derived from vegetable oil. It is used to give a thickness to the vapour, to smoothen out the harshness of PG, and give more body to vape liquid flavours.

Choosing An E-Liquid Nicotine Strength

You'll find most brands have made their liquids available in different nicotine strengths. The vast majority of liquids are available in nicotine-free zero mg, 3 mg, 6 mg and 12 mg. Zero mg juice is perfect for ex-smokers looking to get rid of their reliance to nicotine. If you know you tend to need quite a lot of nicotine, try a 6 mg ejuice. It's worth noting that some people can find the throat hit a little bit strong at 6 mg.

First-time vaper? Your best bet is to start with a 3 mg e-liquid. If you find you aren't getting enough you can always top up with some 6 mg until you find the perfect balance. Still not sure what to buy? Why not check out our guide to choosing the best nicotine level so that know what nicotine strength to pick.

What are PG/VG levels in Vape Juice

Every vape juice has a PG/VG ratio so that you know what to expect from your vape juice. If your preference is for a strong throat hit pick an e-liquid with a high ration of PG. A vaper who wants a super smooth vape and chuck massive clouds should go for a higher VG ratio.

Nicotine Salts vs Juice: What are Nicotine Salts?

Nic salts are is a very strong type of vape juice, up to 50:50. They are designed to work in the super-popular pod vapes and other low power systems. These produce much less vapour than the higher wattage or sub-ohm devices. If you were to put nic salts in one of these devices it would result in a very harsh throat hit and provide you with a generally unpleasant vape experience.

Vape Juice Pods vs Bottles

A closed vape pod comes pre-filled with juice, most likely made by the brand of pod system. When the juice has run out you need to buy another one. This is one of the easiest methods of vaping but it's not the cheapest. Open pod systems like the SMOK Novo, have refillable pods that you can fill with any brands vape juice.
